No CommentsMr David Ho Chi-hoo, together with four other members of the business and professional sectors, have been appointed by the Chief Executive of the Hong Kong SAR to the Council of City University of Hong Kong (CityU). The Council is the supreme governing body of CityU. It exercises the powers and duties of CityU as specified in the Ordinance.

David Ho Chi-hoo, an alumni of the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute,, was appointed as member of its Board of Trustee in 2019. Mr Ho was a graduate of the reputable institution in 1986.
The Board of Trustee represents the leadership of the Rensselaer Alumni Association focused on the prestigious institution’s “innovative pedagogy, global challenge linked research, and transformative student experience.”

Mini storage at Tai Ping Industrial Centre expanded

The Group’s mini storage facility at Block 2, Tai Ping Industrial Centre expanded with an opening ceremony in December 2018. The facility was opened in April 2017 on sixteen floor in phases and together with this new premises on forteenth floor, total area reached over 10,000 sq.ft. The opening was represented by David Ho, Stanley Ho, Mr Ho’s father and Honorary Chairman of Macy’s Candies, as well as Kevin Chan, Chairman and founder of Store Friendly Self Storage Group. Managed by Storefriendly, one of Hong Kong’s largest operator of mini storages, the facility is managed by business intelligence system with computerised security surveillance, electronic gate access and climate control system to maintain steady temperature at all times. Mr Ho was delighted to partner with Store Friendly, a reputable company that has garnered the ‘Hong Kong Top Brands 10-Year Achievement Award’, as well as attained the certificates of ‘ISO 9001’ and “Hong Kong Q-Mark Service Scheme.

David Ho Chi-hoo was appointed by Community Chest as the Co-chairman of Charity TV Show Organising Committee. Mr Ho is honoured to co-lead the organization of the ‘Community for the Chest’ Television Show in aid of charity.
Macy’s Candies Limited also donated HK$ 1 million to this fund-raising programme.

In response to Hong Kong’s Chief Executive Carrie Lam’s 2017 Policy Address, which addressed the importance of students’ knowledge of Chinese history and culture, David Ho Chi-hoo founded the non-profit organisation National History Education Centre (HK). Passionate about education and youth development,, Mr Ho strives to lead the organisation to promote the awareness of Chinese history and culture to the future generations through a variety of different educational seminars, conferences and events.

PLK Stanley Ho Sau Nan Primary School new premises opened

A 30-classroom brand new campus of the PLK Stanley Ho Sau Nan Primary School was opened. The reputable primary school with over 900 students is named after Stanley Ho, Honarary Chairman of Macy’s Candies Group. Initially, David Ho Chi-hoo made a donation in 1995 to enable the school to move to its former premises in San Po Kong. In 2020, the Education Bureau of the Hong Kong SAR announced the school’s new location in Kai Tak, as part of the Energizing Kowloon East initiative. Mr Ho made another donation to fund the development of this new campus at 11 Muk Hung Street.
The opening ceremony was held in December 2015, which was officiated by Stanley Ho, Mr Ho, Kevin Yeung Yun-hung JP, Under Secretary for Education of the Hong Kong SAR Government, and Simon Peh Yun-lu SBS, IDSM, Commissioner of the Independent Commission Against Corruption, Hong Kong SAR Government.

David Ho awarded the Bronze Bauhinia Star (BBS) by Hong Kong SAR Government

Hong Kong’s Chief Executive has accorded awards to a total of 306 persons in 2010’s Honours List, including Mr David Ho Chi-hoo. Included in the 13th full Honours List since the reunification with mainland China, according to the press release by the Government, “Mr Ho is awarded the BBS for his valuable contribution to charity and community service, particularly his work as the Chairman of Po Leung Kuk.”

David Ho Council Gallery was opened at HKU SPACE Po Leung Kuk Stanley Ho Community College in 2009. David Ho Chi-hoo made a personal donation to support the educational institution and society- at-large. David Ho appointed as Po Leung Kuk’s Chairman

David Ho Chi-hoo was appointed as Chairman of the Board of Directors of Po Leung Kuk in April 2009, succeeding Pauline Ngan. Mr Ho joined Po Leung Kuk as a Board member in 1992. Established in 1878, Po Leung Kuk is one of Hong Kong’s largest social service organisations and fundraisers. Under a modern corporatised management structure, the charity utilises donation dollars to maximize the returns to Hong Kong’s most important stakeholder – the community.
Through the years, Mr Ho has contributed to Po Leung Kuk’s strategic development and its strive to benefit Hong Kong’s society. He has also donated tens of millions of dollars to the organization.
